Rio Tinto - Commercial Photography

Jason was engaged by Rio Tinto to create visual assets for their corporate communications tools and annual reports. His brief: deliver photography that balances the human side of mining with the scale and infrastructure of operations.

The resulting images were integrated into Rio Tinto’s internal and external communications, supporting financial reports, investor materials, and corporate narratives with visuals that are both purposeful and impactful.

He captured executives, field staff, and site teams in action — bridging the macro and micro — by photographing them on mine sites, in control rooms, and in offices. The goal was to produce imagery that projects both competence and integrity, reinforcing Rio Tinto’s brand values through authentic storytelling.

In 2025 Jason was commissioned to photograph Shell’s Hazira LNG terminal on India’s west coast. The site is one of the country’s most important energy gateways, importing liquefied natural gas from across the world, converting it back into gas, and distributing it nationwide.

The commission focused on capturing both the industrial scale of Hazira — tankers, pipelines and regasification infrastructure — and the teams who keep it running day to day. The shoot included control rooms, dockside operations and daily ;ife on-site, the images reflect the balance of people and technology that define the terminal.

Used across Shell’s communications, the work situates Hazira at the heart of India’s energy system, showing how LNG is supporting growth while contributing to India’s energy security.

Gulf Keystone Petroleum – Annual Report

Jason travelled to Kurdistan, northern Iraq, to document Gulf Keystone Petroleum’s energy operations for their annual report. The commission focused on capturing the scale and context of oil production in the region — from pumping stations and pipelines to the surrounding landscapes.

The work highlights the infrastructure and environment that underpin energy extraction, showing the industry’s footprint and reach rather than individual portraits. The resulting photography gave Gulf Keystone a strong visual narrative for their reporting cycle, combining authenticity with a clear sense of place and purpose.

National Grid – “Bringing Energy to Life”

For National Grid’s brand refresh, Jason was commissioned to create a visual language that reflects one of the UK’s core utilities in motion. The brief: capture the everyday people, infrastructure and energy flows that sit behind the power in our homes and industry.

Jason’s approach married portraiture and environment — photographing engineers, technicians, site managers, and their facilities — to highlight the human element in electricity transmission and network operations. Each image connects person to place, through line, light and context, tying together technology and human agency in one coherent narrative.

The resulting imagery was used across brand collateral, digital platforms, and internal communications to support National Grid’s new identity, helping to bring to life the energy systems we often take for granted.
