It\u2019s been very quiet on the blog for a little while; but that just means I\u2019ve been really busy. I\u2019m planning to catch up a bit with some more regular bloggide over the next couple of weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Vanessa<\/p>\n

I always say that the best thing about the work I do is the people that I meet – they\u2019re far ranging – politicians, chefs, artists, shark fisherman… the whole 9 yards! This time it was Canadian Archer, Vanessa Lee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I got an unusual call from the publishers of Toronto Airports<\/a> quarterly magazine, Away<\/a>. They had planned a piece based around Canadian athletes who will taking part in the Pan Am Games<\/a>, which is on this month. Vanessa was the UK participant in their venture and she is based in Oxford where she is also studying to be a physiotherapist.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the drive out to the country side I met Vanessa at her training ground. The weather was fine but windy which proved problematic for both of us. Whilst it\u2019s difficult to fire arrows accurately over the standard 70m distance, it proved even harder to anchor my large octa-box to the ground – until between us we came up with an ingenious solution.<\/span><\/p>\n

My first attempt was soso, but again… I\u2019m blaming the wind!<\/span><\/p>\n

Vanessa was a great sport and we ended up shooting for the whole morning; raising a few eyebrows along the way as we walked Vanessa and her competition bow through the stoney streets of Oxford. A month later and I received a copy of the magazine featuring a lovely spread and my favorite picture from the shoot, it\u2019s always great when you\u2019re best image gets chosen. NB: special thanks to Oxford County Council who gave me a buy 1 get 2 free offer after I inadvertently drove the Jason Mobile up the same bus lane 3 times in the space of 2 hours… Bugger!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
